1. Agreement
By creating an account, joining the waitlist, or using mailme.nz (including webmail, IMAP/SMTP, mailme Cloud, and “Login with mailme”), you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. The service
mailme.nz provides:
- an @mailme.nz email address and mailbox
- webmail access
- optional cloud storage (files, calendar, contacts) powered by Nextcloud
- identity / single sign-on for apps that you authorise (including freehosting.nz tools)
Features may change as the service develops. Early-access or free tiers may be limited in capacity, availability or support.
3. Eligibility and accounts
- You must provide accurate information and keep your password secure.
- You are responsible for activity under your account.
- One person should not abuse signup systems to hoard many handles for resale or spam.
- We may refuse, suspend or reclaim addresses that are reserved, abusive, misleading, or required for the operation of the service.
4. Acceptable use
You must not use mailme.nz to:
- send spam, phishing, malware or bulk unsolicited commercial email
- harass, defame, or unlawfully target others
- host or distribute illegal content, or content that infringes others’ rights
- attack, probe or disrupt our systems or other networks
- bypass security, quotas or access controls
- resell the service or your account without our written permission
We may filter mail, rate-limit, quarantine or block traffic that appears abusive, and we may suspend accounts that harm the service or other users.
5. Email and delivery
Email delivery depends on the wider internet and third-party providers. We do not guarantee that every message will be delivered, accepted by recipients, or free of spam filtering on either side. You are responsible for lawful use of any mailing you send.
6. Cloud storage and quotas
- Free accounts include a limited cloud quota (currently 1 GB unless we state otherwise).
- Paid plans increase quota while your subscription remains active and in good standing.
- If a subscription ends or payment fails, quota may return to the free allowance; you are responsible for reducing usage or exporting data before that happens.
- We may set technical limits (upload size, sharing, apps) to keep the platform stable.
7. Paid plans and billing
Paid cloud upgrades are billed through Stripe. Prices are shown in New Zealand dollars (NZD) unless stated otherwise. By subscribing you authorise recurring charges until you cancel via the billing portal or account tools we provide. Taxes may apply where required. Refunds are handled case by case unless a law requires otherwise.
8. Your content
You retain ownership of your mail and cloud content. You grant us a limited licence to store, process and transmit that content only as needed to provide the service (including backups, spam/virus filtering, and delivery).
You must have the rights to the content you store or send.
9. Single sign-on
When you use mailme to sign into freehosting.nz or another application, that application may receive limited identity information (such as email and a user identifier). Use of those apps is also subject to their own terms and policies.
10. Availability and changes
We aim for reliable service but do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practical. Maintenance and security work may cause downtime.
11. Disclaimer and liability
The service is provided “as is” to the extent permitted by New Zealand law. We do not exclude liability that cannot be excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act or other mandatory law. Where we are allowed to limit liability, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of NZD $50 or the amount you paid us for the service in the three months before the claim.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or data loss, except where the law does not allow that exclusion.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the service and request account closure. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, create security risk, or remain inactive for a long period after notice. After termination, mail and cloud data may be deleted in line with our Privacy Policy.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Courts of New Zealand have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any non-excludable consumer rights.
